ServiceI recognize that we are part of a larger community, and my work should always be connected to that community. I know that by sharing these service experiences our students will be motivated to continue this work long after they leave ESF. Construction Management at ESF has a long tradition of engaging in the community and working for its betterment. Below are just a few of the projects that our students have been involved with recently.

My Service ExperienceI was fortunate enough to have been part of a community service project in college that gave me a set of skills that I would have never developed in the classroom. I hope to "Pay it forward" for our students to take on responsibilities and deliver for our community.

Habitat for HumanityStudents work in a number of ways to support Habitat activities in Syracuse and beyond. Recently we provided guidance on pursuing a building certification for their Syracuse Home building projects.

Montage BuildersMontage Builders and Designers Northern Forest won the Grand Prize at the inaugural DOE Challenge Home Student Design Competition. The competition challenges student teams to develop an affordable, net zero-ready home for their region. These homes are meant to be “models for success” for the residential building industry. The Montage was successfully completed as part of a Youthbuild of Schenectady project to train the next generation workforce for high-performance green buildings.

LEEDing The Way GrantWith support from CNYWorks and Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Innovations, we have provided training for students and community members to become LEED Accredited Professionals and Green Associates.

Going GreenAn ongoing college effort to produce video for the community on "green" topics of interest.
